Join us to photograph a multitude of spectacular bird species in Spain.

This photographic tour will begin in Madrid, where we will meet at the airport. From there, we will travel into the beautiful Segovia region by private transfer. In a small village, about 75 minutes from Madrid airport, we will find the family run hotel that we will use as our base for the trip.

The hotel is situated in a perfect location to provide easy access to all of the sites and hides that we will be using for the duration of the trip.

The itinerary has been designed to give guests the best opportunity to see and photograph around 40 or more species of birds, and due to the time of year, we could be fortunate to see both native and migratory species.

Among the bird species that we could see are Golden Eagle, Griffon Vulture, Egyptian Vulture, Black Kite, Little Owl, Bee-eater, Hoopoe, Black-eared Wheatear, Blue Rock Thrush, Golden Oriole, Hawfinch, multiple Lark species, multiple Warbler species and multiple Bunting species.

HIGHLIGHTS

PHOTOGRAPH UP TO 50 DIFFERENT SPECIES OF BIRDS.

We will spend 2 sessions per day in different hides, one during the morning and one mid/late afternoon, with plenty of time in-between to have lunch and a siesta or to explore the local area.

We will also spend 1 or 2 sessions on foot, to photograph birds in flight at a local Natural Park, as well as one scouting for rare Larks.

This trip, really is the perfect opportunity to combine hide photography with field craft in stunning surroundings.

The hides are some of the best in Spain, and have been set up with light and backgrounds in mind, creating the perfect conditions for amazing images.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

Your chosen camera setup.

A focal length of 400mm - 600mm is preferable for all hides (the flexibility of a zoom is good).

Spare memory cards and batteries.

Tripod and gimbal/fluid head or equivalent is required.

Suitable seasonal clothing (the temperatures can be varied at this time of year) and durable, supportive foot wear such as walking boots/shoes.

Laptop, card reader and all chargers.

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Travel to Madrid, we will meet at the airport and transfer (75 minutes) to our accommodation.

Evening photography session and dinner.

Day 2 to 5 - We will spend 2 photo sessions per day in the hides, one morning and one evening to utilise the best light whilst the temperatures are lower. Between sessions, we will travel back to the accommodation, to enjoy meals together, and relax.

Day 6 - Breakfast at the hotel before departing for Madrid airport and flying home.

PRICE

£2,450 in a twin room on a 5 night basis.

Deposit - A non-refundable deposit of £500 is required when booking. The balance will be required 60 days before the trip.

(Payment Plans are available once deposit is secured)

NOTES

Very little walking is required on this tour and any that is, will be on flat ground.

We will have 2 photo sessions per day, at some of the very best photographic hides available in the region, to maximise opportunity and minimise disturbance.

  • International flights and other required scheduled flights are not included unless otherwise stated. Necessary road transfers once in the destination country, will be included if stated in the tour details.

  • Absolutely not! Our trips and tours welcome guests of all levels of photographic experience, from complete beginners to seasoned professionals. Our tours are intended to be enjoyable learning experiences for everyone and are often the best platform for sharing tips and tricks. We like to think that every day is a school day regardless of experience!

  • From day one, we wanted to make our tours accessible to the masses. There are plenty of over priced tours out there in our opinion, and therefore our objective has always been to offer affordable opportunities to our guests, whilst maintaining a high level of experience.

  • If you are interested in single occupancy, please message us and enquire. Some of our tours offer a single supplement at a small additional cost, so please do not let it put you off enquiring.

  • Apex Adventures aim to provide small group experiences and therefore we try to maintain a low client to host ratio. Most of our trips are for 3-6 travellers but on a few of our larger group trips, you can expect 6-8 travellers with 2 photo hosts.
